EPIDERMAL LEVELING / DERMAPLANING FAQ

What is Epidermal Leveling used for?

  • Refines and refinishes dull, lifeless skin.
  • Safely removes the skin's top layers, fine facial hair, and surface imperfections.
  • Reduces acne scarring, uneven pigmentation, and fine line wrinkles.

Is Epidermal Leveling right for my skin type?

Yes! It is ideal for all skin types and tones.

How often should I have this procedure?

This treatment is recommended once a month for the best results.

How will this procedure affect my facial hair?

Epidermal Leveling removes hair temporarily without the harsh effects of waxing and does not change the hair growth pattern or hair texture. It is physiologically impossible for your vellous hairs to grow back thicker.  True, once the hair is cut, it has a blunt edge.  But this blunt edge does not mean that the hair structure itself has been physiologically altered.

There are two types of hair that grow on our bodies.  Vellous (tiny translucent blonde hair) and Terminal (thicker hair that grows under the arms, pubic area, eye brows, mustache and beard for men and legs)
Vellous hair when cut or removed will grow back the same.  The structure of the hair does not become damaged, therefore it is impossible to alter.  Terminal hair is physiologically coarse.  When Termianl hair is cut, it grows back the same way...coarse.

Can Epidermal Leveling / Dermaplaning be performed with a chemical peel?

Absolutely.  I recommend using our BioMedic MicroPeels  from La Roche Posay Laboratories. These peels include various strengths of Glycolic Acid as well as a Lactic Acid that is suitable for all skin types.

Can anyone perform this procedure?

No. Certification is required to perform this procedure and it can only be done in a doctor's office.

What else should I know about Epidermal Leveling?

  • It is non-invasive and helps enhance the effect of other skin care treatments namely chemical peels and laser rejuvenation.
  • It thins and compacts stratum corneum and thickens the dermis resulting in increased absorption of active products, increased firmness and elasticity, and minimized fine lines and wrinkles.
  • It is very important to provide essential nutrients and protection to your newly exposed skin. When Epidermal Leveling is used in conjunction with specially designed skincare products, the procedure can make healthy and beautiful skin a reality.
